At a Private University in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia.

After working for 7 years in Mirpur University of Science and Technology, Mirpur Azad Kashmir as lecturer Mathematics I shifted to Jeddah , Saudi Arabia with my husband.  You can get the details about my first experience when I reached Jeddah in my previous blog about arrival to Jeddah.

I decided to stay at home as house wife, I was feeling tired of a hard routine in last 7 years and I also had few months old daughter with me.

Earlier I was very happy with my decision but when time passed I started feeling very bored and depressed, I had nothing to do all day , that really made  my life miserable . I had no social circle at all. It was just like killing me every day. Then I decided to start working again . I searched few universities of Saudi Arabia in Google.com and applied where I saw some vacancy for female Mathematics Lecturer.

After an effort of one week I got an email from  a private university for interview. I replied them and finalized my interview schedule with university via email. They told me to have an interview on skype and I was ready to answer the questions J.

Dr. AR head of department took my interview. After usual introduction he asked about my previous experience and showed me a book and asked , if I have taught that book.

I worked for different departments in last 7 years of my service;including  agriculture Department of University of Poonch , Rawalakot Azad Kashmir , then I joined Department of Computer Science in Azad Kashmir University and finally I went to Department of Mathematics and Engineering in Mirpur University Of Science and Technology , Mirpur Azad Kashmir . I taught all the courses that were offered by university and followed different text books for each subject. I told all this to Dr. AR , and assure him on basis of my experience, it will not be hard for me!!! He also showed me syllabus on university website that seemed easy for me as it was an introductory course..

I found Dr. AR very cooperative , nice , polite and kind hearted person. He heard me patiently and answered all my questions as well. He told me that the university is situated in heart of Riyadh, so certainly I will n’t face any kind of problem  .

Finally after few weeks of interview I got offer letter from university. I took final exit from my husband visa and went back to Pakistan to come back on university visa. I then applied for visa in Saudi Arabian Embassy in Islamabad and I was extremely happy that everyone was very helpful and cooperative in embassy. I got visa for myself and afterwards for my daughter in few days.

University sent me ticket for 26th Sept. Finally the day arrived when I was ready to fly for Riyadh , Saudi Arabia. In last 2 years of my stay in Jeddah I travelled a lot with my husband but we never visited this place, it was my first experience .

I was very excited having little traces and mist of depression in my mind. After almost 5 hour flight I reached Riyadh International Airport, Saudi Arabia. University representatives received me from airport and brought me directly to university for joining.

On my way to university I was happy to see many sign boards which were directing towards university on main high way. After an half hour drive from airport , I reached my destination. The building of University ,was very beautiful and modern in its structure. After joining I was informed about my teaching schedule.

I started taking classes very next day as classes actually started on 8th of Sept. and I joined on 26^th Sept. This was a different experience for me as I was going to teach a class full of girls of different age group. In my last 7 years of service I taught in co-education and also I taught to boys in engineering department , with not a single female in Civil Engineering class.

Unfortunately , I was going to teach Mathematics to these fragile girls , who were really scared of it .

Now that I am working here from last two years and what experience I had , what I have learnt in these years ,what I have felt after being here is another story. But I have variety of experiences, by living in diversity of cultures , as people here are all from around the world. I learned a lot with each passing day , no matter big or small. I enjoyed different food , festivals , customs , costumes , behaviors above all language etc. I will write about details in upcoming article.

I have not mentioned names of places or any person , just to keep the privacy .

Let’s Roll…… Papers J

   
I was always interested in creative work and when ever, I got some time I always checked a lot of videos on you tube and other websites. I got so many ideas from different people sharing their work and letting all of us know who to recycle stuff that is always at our homes.

Then I started working on many projects like paper rolling , origami , I also tried my ambition with soda cans and water bottles and their caps . I started thinking about  things that I feel I can make. I saw many related videos by different people to learn different techniques , and thought to apply easiest of all.

I will share about different things in my coming articles but today I will tell you about paper rolling.

The things that you need to produce some appealing stuff with papers are;

 Papers ; You can use magazine papers , white papers or any kind of paper you want , but please do not use tissue paper J

Pencil or a straw ; it’s better to have long pencil as in start it will be easy for you to take help from longer one , but gradually you will be able to roll a paper without help of any pencil.

Glue Gun ; after preparing all rolled sticks of paper you have to join them by using glue gun.

Glue ; as you will join edges of paper with it.( I feel it easy this way otherwise you can also use your glue gun.)

And that’s it !!!!!
Lets start and create your first art work.                   

Put paper on smooth surface in such a way that one corner is towards your side as you can see in picture. Now put pencil on one edge in such a way that one end of pencil is longer than the other.

Note: while rolling the paper you have to be careful that pencil may not go inside the rolled paper , it must remain little bit out so you can pull it out when you will be done. After keeping pencil in this way start rolling the paper around the pencil and roll it across till you reach other end.




When you will reach to other corner of paper you will put some glue on last corner and join last edge with rolled paper then it will be in form of a stick. 
Now pull out pencil from other end.


Now start rolling paper in such a way . Roll at least 12 sticks of papers. 


Once you are done with rolled paper sticks , you have to join them using glue gun in form of rectangle or a square . 






Place two similar size sticks in bottom on some distance from each other then join two more on top of first two, these sticks should be perpendicular to first two sticks  , and then go on until your desired height of frame is reached.

 Yeah!!!! You are done now . You have to find some place to hang your work  now somewhere at your home. But if you want it to look more beautiful and nice you can go for many small things that are spread around your homes , but you need to have a keen look . You can attach Christmas balls of different colors , flowers or you can join beads of different colors.

           
          

You can make your own flowers with ribbons or papers of different colors or use from market. There are many videos on YouTube.com to help you make flowers from paper or ribbon.

 I will also let you know that what you can do with empty bottle caps. Start collecting them from now.

We can recycle things in a beautiful way to appeal our eyes.

I would also like to thank my sweet little princess(She is 3 years old) for helping me , she actually did modelling in these pictures ... You can see her small hands while rolling paper. :)

Whom Should I Blame!!

On February 5^th 2014 I woke up early in morning as per routine to join my daily regimental activities. I was about to leave when my Bearer (Batman) reminded me that today is “Kashmir Solidarity Day” a Public holiday. I got freeze on the spot and a wave of anger, guilt and grief agitated my whole body. Heavy heartedly and in anguished state of mind I asked myself “ How can I forget this day?”. A day that I have been remembering since my childhood. I wasn't having any satisfactory answer to that.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is being observed since 1990 to commemorate the brutal killing of 51 Innocent Kashmiri’s in Massacre  on 21 January 1990 after the enforcement of “Governor Raj” in Kashmir. Kashmir issue is the core issue between India and Pakistan and three battles have been fought between them since 1947 just because of the this issue. As per the statistics, in last 24 years 93979 innocent Kashmiri’s have been martyred, 107466 children have been orphaned, 10084 women have been raped and 7014 Kashmiri’s have been killed while in custody.

Pakistan’s Government(Govt.) as well as the people have always stood by their commitment on the Kashmir issue. Pakistan’s domestic as well as foreign policy has always been directed towards resolution of Kashmir issue as per the aspirations of Kashmiri people. The cause of Kashmir has been standing as the highest priority for Pakistan. On international forum including the UN as well as its agencies and the Human Rights Organizations of the world, Pakistan has always been advocating the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir vehemently. But in recent decades or so if we look towards the stance of Pakistan on Kashmir issue we don’t see any Major development. Pakistani Govt. and even the people to some extent have started accepting the present Kashmir situation.

The reason of Pakistan’s silence on this issue to me is, Pakistan’s Internal       security situation but , isn’t Kashmir the Part of Pakistan? I have always been a staunch supporter of  Kashmir as part of Pakistan and I will be!!!! But the silence of Pakistan on National and International Forum haunts me.

Why are we pretending that Kashmir is not a major issue? What steps are we taking at resolving Kashmir issue? We Have locked this issue in a safe and we are pretending that we have lost the keys of the safe and we are just sleeping around the safe. As soon as we’ll find the keys and take it out , but I wonder we don’t get that much late in finding the keys , once we’ll open the safe to take it out it would have been stolen!!!!!!

Innocence Lost!

Little Rolling Tears

                                                                 

                                                If you have ever visited South Asia then you may have noticed this situation inside any home or somewhere outside.

 

A small girl dressed in rags aged 8-10 was busy cleaning the kitchen. All at once she got scared after hearing an angry voice.

 

A lady came shouting into the kitchen with a piece of broken glass in her hand. She waved the broken piece of glass near the scared little girl’s face and asked her angrily, “Why did you break this glass?”

 

The little girl stepped back side hastily and found herself standing with her back against kitchen cabinets.

 

“I did not “ She was shaking her head to emphasize her denial. 

 

The lady gave her a ringing slap across her face and shouted “ You liar!  I will deduct your salary for this”, pointing her finger towards the shard of broken glass.

 

Meanwhile, hearing this noise, another girl, dressed neatly in expensive clothes entered the room and asked, “ Mama why are you shouting and beating her? What’s wrong with you?”

 

The older woman cried out in rage, “ She broke this glass and I will not spare her for this! Did she spoil my whole set? Do you know how expensive it was ?”

 

The woman’s daughter pleaded, “Mama, calm down, please. She did not break it. The glass fell from my hands. “

 

“ Oh my God, shrieked the mother, ”Are you all right? Did you hurt yourself? “ she questioned, looking at her daughter anxiously. Her eyes roamed her daughter’s body to check for any injury on her hands or feet.

 

Her daughter replied, “ I am perfectly all right, Mom, and sorry about your glass.”

The mother’s heart melted, “Come on sweetheart, let’s go. Next time if you need anything ask the maid”.

 

On their way out the lady turned to the little maid and ordered her irritably, “ Go and clean the lounge at once, and make sure you do not leave any piece behind. It can harm my daughter, understand???” she twisted the little girl’s ear to make her point and then left with her daughter.

 

The little girl was scared, witless tears rolled down her cheeks as she stood in shock. She had been punished for something she hadn’t done.

 

Have you been in such situations? Try to convince others that children who have no choice, but to work for you, deserve at least, a little care. If they cannot be like your kids ever at least you can treat them nicely.

 

Think, they are humans too who are deprived of many necessities of life and try to keep their heart and soul together by serving you. You must be kind and helpful to them, do not look down upon them as they are poor and needy, but try to help them and understand the bitterness of their lives.

 

You will be satisfied by showing a little care and tolerance towards them… I can bet!! As for the rest,  you never know, when time may change!!!!

Understanding Quran

Are you the one who always try to open holy book and read some verses from Quran , that was sent by Creator to  us through Prophet Muhammad peace and blessing be upon him.  Do you understand what the Creator , Lord of the universe is trying to tell you , through this book?????

If you understand then I assure you that you are one of the luckiest people around the world, there is nothing better than that!!!!

When we were kids our parents fulfilled their duty by bringing a Quran teacher for us , who taught us how can we read Arabic. After wards I suppose that all most all of us open Quran and read that , whenever we get time . But  everyone have noticed that in South Asia some people read when someone is dead and some people only open when they lose their parents and read a lot of Quran for dead . At least they are opening Quran but we should try to open it daily , even we study just a few verse.

But the problem with all non-Arabs is that they do not know anything about Arabic , it’s just they can read and sometime write , as in some countries Arabic is also taught in schools. We are reading Quran but we are not understanding what this Holy book is talking about . We just recite for AJAR nothing else.

Do you think that reciting Quran in Arabic is enough????

Quran is not only for reading , even though its good but the main purpose should be to understand, what we are actually reading. Our parents , we see at many homes , when they grow old they just sit recite Quran and actually there are many Muslim people around the world , who have learnt Quran by heart and there are some who have read this more than hundred times without knowing it properly.

What I am trying to say is that it’s good to read . But we must fulfill our duty too . We must take time and try and understand what our Creator the Almighty Allah wants to tell us . When we will understand while reading , our lives will be directly affected . You will surely notice a positive change in your thought and behavior towards life and others. As I am residing in Saudi Arabia from last 4 years where I meet people from all over Arab world. Arabs have this advantage that they read Quran and understand this and believe me I have seen that, they are much more better in faith then rest of non-Arabs . They practice Islam in a better way and trust Allah more as they understand what Allah is telling them , they read , they understand , apply in lives and have strong faith and practice Islam in their daily lives.

If you feel like only reading it , then I am sorry to say you are lacking something. I will try to show by an example; if we see many westerners who are turning to Islam , most of them share that they came across Quran they study it and got the truth . Whoever from non-Muslim world reads Quran ,  actually reads its translation and understands what is reality and ultimately the light comes to their hearts and brighten their lives , but what I want to emphasize that they changed their faith , just by knowing the meaning. In our case our faith can be stronger after knowing. One thing I will feel worth mentioning , by last example I do not mean at all that you should only read translation of Quran in your language , we must try to read it in Arabic as its the language of Quran , if we can then Allah have reward for reading each and every word. So , reading in Arabic is good but its better to understand as well.

Our parents have completed their duty to teach us how to read Quran , now it’s our turn to have sometime and try to understand Quran. It will surely change our lives you will surely develop a better attitude and understanding towards life and its issues , and will surely not be panic in many chaotic situations as you will understand that Allah have some thing better for you.

I wish every Muslim try to understand Quran  and may Allah help us in better understanding.

I believe that all the problems around the world are just because of reason that we are going away from Quran and teachings of Islam. We must understand Quran as the solution of all of our problems is hidden in lines of verses you read in Arabic but unfortunately you do not understand. If you have any problem in your life just turn to this , you will notice that everything will be resolved peaceful. When you will try to understand Quran Allah will bestow you with more blessings and open your ways. 

What are you waiting for , think, decide about some time and try to start now as we have many facilities and we can easily do this. Despite sitting free and roaming around open it on your mobiles , or download with translation and start today!!!

You will feel a peace in your life and you will surely be happy , I can bet.

Having Success , Respect and Independence

Having Success , Respect and Independence.

 

What is your opinion about having Success , Respect and Independence? How much it is easy ?

I thinks , having all at the same time is not that easy . It’s not immediate ever . It takes a lot of time , effort  , hard work and devotion . Many famous people from around the world always share their experiences through media and emphasize on working hard and being devoted to your goals. They will never say that it’s easy. If you have all of them , it shows that you have worked really hard over period of time.

Sometimes it also comes with luck . But having all , with luck ? Do you believe this?

I do . Let us suppose that you got all with luck , still it needs a lot of effort to sustain it.

If you got it pinned on you as you are born as a millionaire , then the case will be easy for you to talk about. But if you were an average person , you must have discovered that  it’s not that easy at all.

If you want to get success , respect and independence , you have to emphasize on few important things ;

·         Firstly ,Set your goals and make your idea as a faith , believe in your idea and yourself.

·         Use systematic and sequential approach to attain that.

·         You should be punctual , devoted and above all fair in your dealings.

·         You must be willing to work under every condition and work even harder if you fail.

By doing so you will definitely have the opportunity to be successful , immediately gaining you respect and ultimately independence. You will accept that, it turned out amazing. Do not wish for things , just start doing them right now!!!!

People who want to be successful in life ,  make their plans and execute it with their own strategy till end. They are never afraid of failure , every failure assure them that they are near to success and some day they will be successful and their methodology will benefit them and masses.

Everyone in life must have a goal and some objective, so he can have some motivation and try to be successful as Socrates Idea about life is , “ Unexamined life is not worth living “.
